Being on the grounds crew meant that we really didn't have any "projects". Some highlights of the internship were: the intern volunteer day, shadowing tickets, setting up for concerts, and the intern luncheons. There was one day that all of the interns went and volunteered within the city of Grand Rapids as a way to give back to the community. We voted on Habitat for Humanity and we all went and re-framed a house all day. The house is going to be sold to a family that needs a house to live in but needs help financing it. All of the interns were also required to spend a day shadowing another department. I choose to shadow the ticket department where I learned a lot about selling tickets and what a typical day inside the ticket office is like. We also had many concerts on the field while I there. Setting up for concerts was long and dreadful, but it was fun because everyone in the organization was there to help and we all got to laugh together and just have fun while setting up the stage. And the intern luncheons were another highlight of the internship. All of the interns had a luncheon with the vice presidents of the organization one day and another luncheon with the owners of the club on another day. They were a way for us to pick their brains and get advise for breaking into the professional sports industry. It was fun to see them outside of their daily routine and to get to know them outside of work and for them to show their appreciation for us was really cool.
